interfloortech @ 17th CAA African Senior Athletics Championships

The managing director of interfloortech GmbH, Michael Sturm, visited the 17th CAA African Senior Athletics Championships from 28th of July until 1st of August in Nairobi / Kenya. Beside the fantastic competition several meetings were held to discuss future projects to provide more high class facilities to African Athletics.

Kenya finished first after bagging 25 medals—ten gold, seven (silver) and eight (bronze) as the curtains came down on the event at Nyayo Stadium. Nigeria finished second after collecting a total eighteen medals—eight (gold), seven (silver) and six (bronze) while South Africa were third with 19 medals—six (gold), seven (silver) and six (bronze). Egypt were placed fourth with nine medals—four (gold), two (silver) and three (bronze) with Algeria behind them in fifth place with eight medals—four (gold), two (silver) and three (bronze). Despite finishing on top of the chart, Kenya also improved on the number of medals hauled from the championship. In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Kenya finished fourth with a total 14 medals. Athletics Kenya (AK) chairman Isaiah Kiplagat hailed the performance of the Kenyan team and rued missing on gold in women’s 800m. “I was anticipating for Jepkosgei to win gold in 800m but all in all it is a perfect performance from the Kenyans,” said Kiplagat, who doubles up as Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman.
